It may sound too good to be true, but people actually do play video games for a living. And they make an absolute killing.
e-Sports Earnings has ranked the 100 players with the highest overall earnings from competitive gaming.
Over 100 gamers have earned more than $250,000 in prize money alone, without counting the sponsorship deals and income that many of these players receive from streaming their practice games on services like Twitch.
But they pale in comparison to the top 10 players, who have earned more than $10 million for their gaming prowess alone.

HTC has another big Android phone coming, and it looks a lot like the iPhone

HTC's lineup of One phones have looked mostly the same over the past few years with some slight design changes. Now, it looks like HTC is trying a different aesthetic for a new upcoming phone - and it looks a lot like the iPhone.
HTC's One A9, which is also being called Aero, will reportedly come with a super slim metal design with thin bands along the back for its antennas, as new leaked images show. The photos were published by Evan Blass on Twitter, who has a strong track record when it comes to reporting on unreleased mobile products.
Take a look at the image below, which shows the phone in six color variants.

The Cast Iron and Opal Silver colors look a lot like the Silver and Space Gray options Apple offers. There's even a Rose Gold option for the A9 just like the iPhone. The Rose Gold variant HTC offers is a bit different though - it looks more like the gold iPhone than the pink Rose Gold color Apple recently introduced.
Now, here's a photo of the iPhone 6S for comparison.

The HTC One A9 is expected to be less than 7mm thin, according to Blass, which would make it about as thin as the iPhone. It's also said to come with a 13-megapixel camera, a 5-inch screen, 2GB of memory, 16GB of storage, and a fingerprint sensor. Blass says it will debut in November.

Sometimes you just need a speaker, and cranking up the volume on your smartphone isn't going to cut it.But what if you could link up all the phones in the room to create a giant, hacked-together surround sound speaker of sorts?
That's the idea behind AmpMe, a new music streaming app for iPhone and Android that syncs up you and your friends' phones to create a connected speaker. Sure, listening to music out of your iPhone's speakers isn't a great experience, but there's (speaker) strength in numbers, and AmpMe is the quickest speaker replacement out there - and it's a lot better than the old smartphone-in-a-cup trick too.
Created by serial entrepreneur Martin-Luc Archambault, AmpMe's secret sauce is how it syncs together all the devices in the room.
Here's how it works.
Once everyone downloads the app, the person who will be controlling the music taps the "Play" button and selects a song from the app's music library. AmpMe is launching with SoundCloud as its partner, but Archambault promises that more streaming services "will follow soon."
With the music playing, the others in the room tap the connect button on their phones and type in a 4-digit pin to join in. One of the best parts about AmpMe is that it works across iPhone and Android, and even connects to Bluetooth speakers that include a microphone, such as Jambox. The microphone is required as AmpMe syncs together the phones by sending out a high-frequency tone to other devices, which ensures there isn't a slight delay.

When Archambault gave me a demo of AmpMe using five devices - four smartphones and an iPad Mini - the results were impressive. The combined volume of all the devices was far from quiet, it got so loud at one point that I had to ask him to turn it down out of fear of annoying my colleagues working outside the conference room.

Of course, AmpMe is far from a 5.1 surround sound speaker, but it's a handy workaround when you're looking to keep the music going without access to a speaker, and its simplicity keeps things easy. If AmpMe can partner with Spotify or Apple Music to increase its library size, this app might have some legs.

Microsoft betting big on mobile devices with Office 2016

With the launch of its latest edition of the productivity software suite, Microsoft is cashing in on mobile devices ecosystem.

The Office 2016 apps, which include popular programmes like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Access, are the latest addition to Microsoft's cloud-based subscription service Office 365.

"Office 2016 is about reinventing productivity and business processes for the mobile-first, cloud-first world. It makes collaboration and teamwork easier than ever before," said Tyler Bryson, GM, Marketing & Operations, Microsoft.

It also focuses heavily on security and protection of the data of the user, he added.

Office 365 subscription ranges from Rs 3,299 per annum (for one user) to Rs 33,911 (for Professional Plus).

"A big area of focus for us is smartphones and tablets. Smartphone market in India is booming and we want to showcase the ease with which users can work on documents across devices using the connected set of apps and services that make collaboration easier," he said.

India, which is among the fastest growing smartphone markets globally, has over 350 million Internet users.

Of these, 213 million (over 60 per cent) users access the Internet through mobile devices.

With Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system, the Office 2016 is well-integrated with features like Sway (to create shareable, interactive stories) and Windows Hello (logs the user into Windows 10 and Office 365 in a simple step).
